160 tags in the index. Tags describe the literal subject of an icon — what it depicts, not how it looks. Use tags to find every visual that means the same thing across different design treatments.
Tag conventions
Every icon in the IconDrop archive is tagged with three to eight short keywords that describe its subject. Tags stay deliberately literal — for example, an icon of a small laptop opened to a code editor would be tagged with laptop, computer, code, and development, not with stylistic adjectives like flat or modern. We chose this convention because designers searching for an icon almost always know what they want it to depict, but rarely think to search by visual style.
If a tag you expected isn't in the index, try a synonym or browse a related category. If you would like to suggest a tag we are missing, email us via the contact page — we update the tag taxonomy roughly once per quarter as the archive grows.
